Water softening systems

Water softening systems are usually used for hardening. The device consists of a metal cylinder, inside of which there are substances effective in removing hardness (ion exchange resins). These resins can exchange magnesium and calcium ions with sodium ions. The resins of Water softening systems become saturated after a certain period of time and lose their effectiveness. If the resin is washed with 10% sodium chloride solution, it regains its hardening properties. The use of muddy water with suspended substances, as well as water containing iron, manganese, copper and other heavy metals, wears out the resins. It is recommended to separate the water suspended materials by a sand filter before the Water softening systems and to take necessary measures to reduce heavy metals. Start-up, operation and reloading of the hardening device may be done manually or automatically.

Applications of Water softening systems

  • Reducing the hardness of drinking water according to the standard of the World Health Organization (WHO)
  • Removal of boiler water hardness
  • Removal or reduction of water hardness in the heating and cooling system
  • Removing or reducing water hardness in textile and dyeing industries and…
