Diffused Aerators

Aeration diffuser

In biological wastewater treatment processes, the aeration unit is one of the most important units. Microorganisms use oxygen to decompose and treat wastewater. In a wastewater treatment plant or wastewater treatment package  air is generated by an aeration blower and distributed by a diffuser. The diffuser is responsible for aerating the air transfer device in the sewage. The smaller the air bubbles, the higher the oxygen transfer efficiency to the wastewater due to the increased contact surface.

Types of aeration diffusers

Aeration diffusers are classified into three categories in terms of appearance: disc diffusers, tube diffusers and plate diffusers.

Disk diffuser

Disc diffusers are very common in the wastewater treatment industry. They are usually made of plastic, ceramic or ethylene-propylene plastic in the form of a disc that is attached to a system of pipes and blowers. The blowers send air through the pipes and the air comes out through small gaps or pores in the diffuser membranes. Plate aeration diffusers are available in 10, 12 and 14 inch sizes. Liver diffusers are the most popular example of 10 and 12 inch diameter disc diffusers.

How disk diffusers work

Advantages of disc aeration diffuser

  • Minimum maintenance costs
  • High oxygen transfer rate
  • Long life
  • Can be used in various industries
  • Low pressure drop
  • High resistance to chemical corrosives
  • No clogging problem

Tube diffuser

Tube diffusers work much like disc diffusers. They are usually composed of long cylindrical membranes that are connected to the aeration pipe and blower system to help drain the wastewater They may also use protective coatings to reduce clogging. Tubular diffusers are usually made of polypropylene, silicone or polypropylene plastic. Tubular diffusers are used for tanks such as the MBR wastewater treatment package, which are narrow in width and long in length.

Advantages of a tube diffuser

  • Requires little space
  • Low cost
  • Reduce operating time
  • Low pressure drop
  • Long life
  • High oxygen transfer rate
  • Low energy consumption
  • High bubble production
  • Less number of blowers

Screen diffuser

Plate aerator diffuser is one of the types of plate diffusers that has attracted a lot of attention due to its special design. The body of this diffuser is made of PP in combination with glass fiber and has a high resistance.

Advantages of a screen diffuser

  • Low pressure drops
  • Long life
  • High oxygen transfer rate

Fine bubble aerator diffuser

In wastewater treatment plants  and wastewater treatment packages  the smaller the air bubbles, the higher the efficiency of oxygen transfer to the water due to the increased contact surface. For this reason, fine-bubble aeration diffusers are widely used in the water and wastewater industry and in wastewater treatment packages . Bubble diffusers consist of a disc with a strong retaining frame made of polypropylene and a flexible plastic membrane made of polypropylene plastic that has very small holes for air bubbles to pass through. The inlet connection of the aerator diffuser is installed in the lower part of the frame, which can be installed on all types of pipes by a bushing of the same size or a special connection belt made of polyethylene.

Advantages of fine bubble aerator diffuser

  • Simple installation
  • Consumes less energy than a large bubble aerator diffuser
  • Easy maintenance
  • High oxygen transfer rate

Large bubble aerator diffuser

Large bubble aerators have a bubble size of approximately 6 to 13 mm and are mostly used in cases where mixing and turbulence are required. In many cases, the use of large bubble diffusers is preferred due to the need for more mixing and turbulence, especially in wastewater balancing ponds. These nozzles have the ability to mix more intensely to suspend sediments and concentrated sludge. Large bubble diffusers are often made of polypropylene and PVC in the form of simple, valve or fungal discs. Due to the variety of diffuser designs, other types can be supplied and ordered in different models such as tubular and disc.

Advantages of large bubble aerator diffuser

  • Low clogging
  • High mixing power
  • Suitable for secondary wastewater treatment stage

The main parts of the aerator diffuser

  • Aeration diffuser frame
  • Belt rims
  • Membrane
  • One-way valve for aerator diffuser

Application of aeration diffuser

  • Municipal wastewater treatment plants
  • Wastewater treatment plants
  • Fish ponds
  • Sewage treatment of restaurants
  • Food and dairy industry wastewater treatment
  • Lagoons
  • Sludge stabilization process

Price of aerator diffuser

Nilfamengineering company is a supplier of  German aeration diffusers with JAGER brand with excellent quality and Taiwanese brands with the best quality and the most appropriate price. The price of aeration diffusers of Nilfam engineering company  depends on such things as the type of wastewater, the concentration of solids, the size of the aeration bubbles and the body material. Each of these factors has a significant impact on determining the final price of aeration diffusers.
