Industrial reverse osmosis system (RO)

The general trend of water purification technology in the world shows the increasing demand for reverse osmosis (RO) packag. Reliable operation, easy operation and economical operation are the reasons for the progress and success of reverse osmosis technology. The basis of the reverse osmosis process is the purification of salt water through the separation of dissolved salts and salts by a semi-permeable membrane.

The structure of the membrane is such that only water molecules are able to pass through it, so that this system is able to separate more than 98% of impurities, including dissolved salts, from water. The main equipment of the RO package including pre-treatment system, microfilters, salt removal membranes, high pressure pump, flow and pressure control and measurement equipment, electrical panel.

In this process, by placing a pressure higher than the osmotic pressure on the side of the salt water, the direction of the movement of the solvent (pure water) is reversed, and in this way the water can be separated from the impurities inside it. The percentage of recovery will be determined according to the type of membrane, the quality and quantity of purified water and the amount of operating costs. Increasing the percentage of recovery causes an increase in the solutes and as a result the osmotic.

In the reverse osmosis system, the membrane is the most important and sensitive part of the device because the required operating pressure is directly related to the thickness of the membrane and the diameter of its holes. Also, the membrane must be resistant due to constant contact with chemicals added to water.

control of fouling in membranes:

The membrane fouling is a very serious problem and it is a danger that threatens all membrane processes. membrane fouling can block the pores of the membrane and thus reduce the product amount and increase the water conductivity. Correct maintenance and pre-treatment processes, as well as proper membrane cleaning methods, are things that will reduce membrane fouling and improve system performance and increase system life.

applications of RO packages:

  1.  Preparation and production of drinking water from salt water (drinking)
  2.  Preparation and production of soft water for use in various industries (boilers, chillers and cooling towers)
  3.  Preparation and production of distilled water for use in the production lines of pharmaceutical and cosmetics factories
  4.  Preparation and production of water for steam and combined cycle power plants
  5.  Preparation and production of water for dialysis machines in hospitals
  6.  Preparation and production of water needed by livestock and poultry
  7.  Preparation and production of water needed for agricultural products (agricultural, horticultural, greenhouse)
