Lamella plates

Lamella plates or lamella clarifiers are a type of settler designed to remove particles from wastewater. Lamella plates are often used in primary wastewater treatment instead of conventional settling tanks. Unlike Mamoli clarifiers, lamella plates are composed of a series of inclined plates. These inclined plates make it possible to settle a large amount of suspended matter in a small space. The way the lamella plates work is that the incoming sewage remains constant after entering the lamella plates. The solid particles begin to settle on the lamella plates and accumulate in the solids collection funnel at the bottom of the tank. Then the wastewater free of suspended matter is discharged from the top of the spillway. Lamella plates are also used as a pre-treatment step for entering wastewater into membrane filters. This reduces the use of chemicals in membrane processes and results in lower operating costs.

Advantages of lamella plates

  • Reducing the consumption of coagulants and chemicals
  • Increasing the clarification efficiency of wastewater treatment
  • High sedimentation level
  • Requires little space
  • Reducing the problems of clogging and accumulation of waste materials in sewage treatment packages
  • Absence of moving and mechanical parts
  • Low depreciation
  • The price is right
  • Long life

Design of lamella plates

The lamella plate design consists of a series of inclined plates inside a container. The sewage flow enters from the top of the tank, and descends from the inclined plates. Wastewater free of solids remains on the lamella plates, and the solids sit on the plates and are finally transferred to the bottom of the container. The path that a particle takes depends on the flow velocity, particle dimensions and particle settling rate. At the bottom of the container there is a funnel that collects these particles as sludge. Sludge may be discharged continuously or intermittently. Wastewater free of solids is removed from the top of the lamella plates in the outflow of the system.

Inclined plates may be circular, hexagonal or rectangular tubes. Some of the design items are:

  • The distance between the lamella plates is 50 mm
  • The length of the tube or plate is 1-2 meters
  • The angle of the lamella plates is between 45 and 70 degrees
  • Normal loading speed is 5 to 10 meters per hour
  • The main features of the process

Expected separation efficiencies for a typical unit are:

  • Removal of 90-99% of free oils and fats in wastewater
  • Removal of 20-40% of emulsified oils and fats
  • Removal of 50-99% of solids and fats by adding chemical agents
  • The treated wastewater has a turbidity of about 1-2 NTU
  • Application of lamella plates
  • Oil and gas industries
  • Refineries and petrochemicals
  • steel Industries
  • Food and dairy industries
  • Paper industry
  • Oil production industries
  • Pretreatment of membrane processes
  • Waste water treatment
  • Urban and industrial wastewater treatment
  • Surface water treatment

The price of lamella plates

Kashefan Nilfam Engineering Company is a supplier of all kinds of lamella plates with the best quality and the most suitable price. The price of lamella plates of Kashefan Nilfam Engineering Company depends on such things as the specifications of the incoming sewage, body material, body dimensions and the angle of the plates. Each of these factors has a significant impact on determining the final price of the wastewater treatment package.
